Shellbraes

Shellbraes is ideal for larger parties, offering flexible accommodation over five bedrooms. Two king size (with ensuite), one twin and two either twin or king! The master bedroom and king room have ensuite bathrooms and there is also a family bathroom and downstairs loo!

The  farmhouse enjoys a large traditional kitchen diner which has the luxury of underfloor heating, the kitchen table sits ten and there’s a sofa and arm chair to sit and relax. Connected to the kitchen is the play room which has a collection of games and books for you to enjoy. The dining area also sits ten and enjoys the comfort of the underfloor heating which leads through to the sitting room.

There is a utility boot room with washing machine, tumble drier, a freezer and downstairs loo!

The garden is the perfect spot to relax and unwind with an enclosed lawn, patio area and bbq. Enjoy the raised beds with herbs and vegetables (seasonal) which you are welcome to share.

There is space to securely store bikes (on request) and parking for 4 cars.

There is a gun cupboard and safe available.

1 well behaved dog allowed to stay in the utility/kitchen and family room. Please do not leave unattended or allow on the furniture.

    There is free BT wifi at the property.

  • Enclosed Garden

    A safe spot to relax and let the children unwind. The garden has truly stunning views across the valley and you can say hello to the rare breed sheep over the wall in the farms fields.

    The garden has a lawned area, raised vegetable bed, bbq patio area, table and chairs for 10, water trough and strawberry patch.

  • Children

    Children are very welcome, there are two travel cots, high chair, booster seat, black out blinds in all bedrooms and a stair gate at the top of the stairs. Don’t panic if you forget your monitor or sunshine clock, we have a spare!

    The play room has games and books for you to enjoy. There is an electric wood burning effect stove in the playroom so you know you can leave the children to play safely without worrying about a real fire. A real wood burner is in the sitting room and kitchen, we ask that you take full responsibility for the safety of you children if you choose to put the wood burners on. We provide one basket of logs, kindling, firelighters and matches for your stay, if you need more they are available from Hexham and Corbridge.

  • Matfen Hall

    Matfen Hall has become a very popular wedding location. Shellbraes is 2.7 miles away and offers a more cost effective place for large parties to stay for local weddings. There are a number of taxi services which will run between the farm and Matfen.

    Matfen Hall has Go Ape, Golf, Leisure Spa with swimming pool, Restaurants and a par three golf course with driving range.

  • Hadrians Wall

    Shellbraes is very close to Hadrian’s wall and an ideal location to stay for those walking the wall. Contact us if you would like information regarding local transfer services which prove to be a very popular way of walking the wall.

  • Sleeps 10

    The whole of the first floor enjoys the comfort and luxury of underfloor heating.

    Master bedroom – King size bed with walk in dressing room, ensuite bath and shower room.

    Bedroom 2 – King size bed or twin room

    Bedroom 3 – King size bed or twin room

    Bedroom 4 – Twin room

    Bedroom 5 – King size bed with ensuite shower room.

    There is a good size family bath and shower room for bedrooms 2, 3 and 4, with free standing bath and walk in shower.

    The bedrooms do not currently have tv’s in them.

    Bed linen and towels are provided.

  • Large Country Kitchen

    The kitchen at Shellbraes is the real hub of the house. Fully equipped for ten, central island, woodburner and country kitchen table seating 10 it is the perfect place to join together for meals. If you don’t want to cook there’s a delicious Indian take away delivery service, local Chinese take away/delivery or you can venture to one of the local pubs/restaurants.

    The kitchen has an electric oven and hob.

  • Dining Space and Sitting Room

    For more special occasions (or just because you fancy it) you can enjoy eating in the dining room with traditional Georgian furniture and beautiful circular dining table.

    Move through to the cozy sitting room with wood-burner, comfy sofas and smart tv. There is a DVD player and fairly large collection of DVD’s for you to share.
